Sunday Nights

About Shirley

Shirley grew up Israeli Folk Dancing. She took her first class with Natalie Stern at the University of Judaism at the young age of 11. She taught her first childrens’ class when she was just 13 years old at the West Valley JCC, and has since taught all over California, Texas, and Missouri.

From there Shirley spread her energy across Southern California, teaching in synagogues, community centers, and schools. After moving to Northern California, she taught Israeli Dance to the new generation at Jewish day schools and synagogues throughout the Bay Area. She choreographed a youth dance troupe that performed during the Oakland A’s games.

For ten years, Shirley was the programmer, kids camp director, and assistant camp director for Ramah Rikkudiah. Later she joined David Dassa’s staff for Rikud and Winter Rikud, programming late into the night and writing her infamous hilarious skits!

Shirley ran a high-energy weekly dance session on Thursday nights in Palo Alto for nearly a deacde before moving back to Southern California. Now, almost 6 years later, she’s back on the dance floor with her new session on Sunday nights in the OC.
